-
Sore wounds on your toes, feet or legs that heal slowly or not at all?

Early Detection & Your Health
You are at an increased risk for vascular disease if you:
-
Are a smoker
-
Have high blood pressure
-
Have high blood cholesterol
-
Are overweight
-
Have limited physical activity
-
Have a history of alcohol use
-
Have type 2 diabetes
Is early detection important?
Yes. It could mean the difference between life and death.
The following 3 simple procedures take up just a few minutes of your time, but are a cost effective essential to living a long, healthy life.
Note: Men have only a slightly higher risk. For both, susceptibility increases with age.
ABI Vascular Screening
A vascular screening is used to help detect vascular disease. Early detection of vascular disease is important because left untreated, vascular disease can lead to stroke, loss of limb, or even death.
Finding and treating vascular disease in its earlier stages provides hope and help. The sooner these conditions are diagnosed the sooner treatment can begin.
Carotid Artery Screening β Stroke Prevention
A stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is restricted. This is caused by narrowing of the arterial walls which is commonly caused plaque build-up in the arteries, a condition call Carotid Artery Disease.
Risk factors for CAD include:
A history of vascular/cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol & smoking.
A Carotid Artery Screening is simply an ultrasound of the carotid duplex and a blood pressure check, which helps in diagnosing the most frequent causes of stroke β significant internal carotid artery stenosis.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening
An Aortic Aneurysm occurs when the walls of the largest blood vessel in the body (the Aorta) weakens. When this happens the aorta swells and can eventually get so thin that it bursts or ruptures.
Weakening is caused from a number of factors, such those who have a family history of AAA, have high blood pressure, smokers, or those over the age of 55.
Itβs also very important to be screened if you have been diagnosed with arteriosclerosis.
