Lucia Spears, M.D.
Dr. Lucia Spears is a board certified diagnostic radiologist with over 30 years experience. 23 years of her career have been specifically in breast imaging, which includes extensive experience with mammography, breast ultrasound, breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), image guided percutaneous needle biopsies and preoperative procedures. She has provided breast imaging services for Union Hospital, Terre haute Indiana at Clara Fairbanks Center for Women. She is president of Imaging Answers, LLC which provides breast imaging services and consulting for breast imaging equipment and associated percutaneous devices. Dr. Spears was Medical Director of Solis Indianapolis Breast Center between 8/2008 and 9/2010; the Medical Director and owner of the Indianapolis Breast Center, P.C. (IBC, PC) from 2001 to 2008, and a staff radiologist at the Indianapolis Breast Center from 1992 to 2001.
Dr. Spears became a commissioned officer in the US Navy Reserves upon accepting a scholarship from the Navy for medical school. She received her diagnostic radiology residency and her internal medicine internship at Oakland Naval Hospital, in Oakland, CA; Medical School at the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and B.S. degree in biology at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. She was Head of Radiology for the Naval Medical Clinics of Pearl Harbor, HI from 1989 to 1992; General Medical Officer, Emergency Room, Naval Hospital Oakland, Oakland, CA from 1984 to 1985. Dr. Spears has speaks with numerous advocacy and community service groups about breast cancer.
Dr. Spears is a member of several professional society organizations including: the Aesculapian Society, the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Medical Association, the National Medical Association, the Indiana State Medical Association, Indianapolis Medical Society, the National Consortium of Breast Centers, and the Society of Breast Imaging.
